|
|
I want to use the live-CD to install gentoo on my NVIDIA NForce2 Board. So i need the networking module compiled for the live-CD so that i can install it.
Can somebody mail it to me?
Just the "nvnet.o" is needed, i will copy it then into /lib/..../net and "--force" it to load (hope that works, because it is not in the kernel-dependencies then...).
Thanks |

Cant you get from here?
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0248.html in the source file download.
Not sure if it will help or not.
If it doesnt you might want to consider doing a a gentoo install via Knoppix.
Good Luck,

I wanted to try this new "genkernel" thing and that needs beeing run via live-cd, because it takes, what the kernel had found.
Of course, there are alternatives to install, i just wanted to figure this one out.
AFAIK the nforce-module for the NIC must be exactly for the actual kernel, so i can't use precompiled ones. I need one build with the starting kernel from the live-cd to do that... |

But if someone could give me a hint, where i can find the sources for the live-cd-kernel AND the ".config" file, i can build the module myself?! |

NFORCE2 - The way without Live-CD is:
chrooting from another linux.
Works pretty well, but then i can't try genkernel out, because it didn't boot from the live-cd.... |

Yes you can try genkernel. To get it you have to . That will install the latest genkernel in your portage tree. |

I was just going to install Gentoo today, then I noticed Knoppix doesn't even support my nic, using the one on a Biostar M7NCD nForce 2 400 board. Any idea if Gentoo is going to include this module in upcoming releases? |
