Hello. For about a week I have been trying to `emerge world` and `emerge system`.
Code:

[root:ken]# emerge -p world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild     U ] sys-apps/coreutils-5.0.91-r4 [5.0-r5]
[ebuild    FU ] games-rpg/nwn-1.61-r1 [1.61]

coreutils-5.0.91-r4 fails because none of the repositories have the file coreutils-5.0.91.tar.bz

What are my options? I have tried emerge sync several times over the last week.

Lastly, is there a guide for how often I should be doing these syncs and world/system emerges?

Try to sync as little as necessary (your problem might well fall within the "necessary" range), since overloaded rsync servers hurt everybody.

The developers' views seem to range from "at most daily" to "no more than once a week if possible".

I read some threads about it (use Gentoo forum search!) and thought about it for a bit, and haven't sync'ed for a week or so..
I'll probably only do that now when stuff starts to break ;-)

No answer yet. I used the search function here but failed to find an answer. I've browsed those ftp servers for that version of coreutils and it isn't there. They all have 5.0. I'm considering wgetting it, putting it in /usr/portage/distfiles and hacking the ebuild. It's been over a week now.

I too emerged /usr/portage/sys-apps/coreutils/coreutils-5.0-r6.ebuild and after doing so successfully ran `emerge -p system` which gives:

Code:

[root:ken]# emerge -p system

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating system dependencies ...done!
[ebuild     U ] sys-apps/coreutils-5.0.91-r4 [5.0-r6]
[ebuild     U ] sys-apps/file-4.06 [4.02]

Which fails because none of the coreutils mirrors have coreutils-5.0.91.tar.bz2

How often should I emerge system/world?

What is the correct method of reporting this? bugs.gentoo.org?
