Hi friends,
First of all, sorry for an enlgish post in a German forum. I wanted to reach the German community here. Well, I am student in RWTH Aachen, Germany and doing an english based Master program.
I am starting my Diplomarbeit in another semester and thus started planning for it. I am very much interested to do something in Linux and based technologies.
I wanted to ask if anybody here knows where I can find good opportunities. I wanted to contact Suse, but I find it tough as I dont get any replies to my emails. Can people here guide me with some information?
Thank you very much for any support.
With regards,

Hi,
I don't know what you want to write about exactly so it's hard to answer, but you could contact your local linux user group for more information. _________________ The computer can't tell you the emotional story. It can give you the exact mathematical design, but what's missing is the eyebrows.

Hi,
Thanx for the reply Ralph. But basically I wanted to look fro opportunities in Linux field. I would like to work on Kernel development and if possible on Wireless networking based projects under linux.
I tried at the LUG here but I did not gather much help! I found people there, more towards user oriented rather than developer oriented.
Any info wuold be helpful
With regards,

You could talk to some local (Linux-oriented) industries - maybe porting a piece of software from windows to linux would be a good start.
Look for some Windows-only devices which are constructed in your town and ask the manufacturer about developing a Linux-device driver. You could also do this by reverse-engineering ... but I think it's easier to ask them for help. |

How about develop drivers for intels centrino wireless LAN chipset. Just kidding. But seriously how about helping in some kernel driver development and write your Diplomarbeit about kernel development in general and on the special example of the driver you co-developed. Just an idea i had when reading your post. GL. |

If you are looking for an company that builds Wireless-Devices, then check out http://www.lancom-systems.de/eu/index.php they are one of the follow-up companys of the good old ELSA (rip). They have there Headquarters in Würselen next to Aachen. This is the biggest manfracture of wireless-devices I know in our area. |
