I am trying to use epm, but I can't seem to figure out the syntax.
I can query packages using the "-q" flag, but I was wondering if anyone knew where there were any docs on it so I could find out more.
ex:

# epm -q apache
apache-1.3.24-r1

Also, does anyone know if there is any support for package querying in emerge itself? I know you can specify a "-s" flag to search through the portage tree, but that does not give you any info about what you have installed afaik.

I don't use epm, but is there something wrong with the man pages? (man epm)

Yeah, apparently they don't exist. When I do a `man epm` I don't get anything back.

Some usefull rpm/epm queries are
| Code: |
zandor root # epm -qa |more
linux-sources-2.4.18
linux-headers-2.4.19-r1
...
zandor root # epm -ql apache |more
/usr/bin/checkgid
/usr/bin/htpasswd
/usr/bin/htdigest
...
|
The first lists all packages installed on your system and the second lists all the files that were installed for the package. Also if you want to find out what package a certain file belongs to you can do:
| Code: | zandor root # epm -qf /usr/sbin/lsof
lsof-4.60-r1 |
You may want to read the man page for rpm if you happen to have it installed.
