Is there even a remote possibility that you have overclocked your CPU?
I've seen similar messages when the CPU freq is too high or the core voltage is on it's boundaries.
If you have not overclocked it, it mey be that the CPU is about to go bad. Good thing is that it was able to correct the problem.

I've had a couple of those pop up.
I ordered a new CPU-fan and before it arrived, my old one gave away. Most likely your CPU has cooling issues. |

No, not overclocked but with 6 fans and 2 cats I'm thinking the CPU heatsync may be clogged. Might need to clean it. Ill give that a try. Could that be a fire hazzard? I mean my computer is on right now and I am not home. Just a worrier. |

mine is an overclocked 2500+ to 2800+ (2GHz). I occasionally get that error on bootup, but as it specifies it is a non-fatal correctable error, and apart from the error msgs there is no ill effect from it _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

Could it be that it is overheating however? Ive never gotten this error before. And I know my system is kindof dusty and dirty inside. |

how does the heatsink feel when youve just switched the machine off? _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

Hi all
as already posted in the german thread...
Not sure if this is related to Overclocking/thermal probs or only on Athlon CPUs, because I got this "warnings" also everytime if I "resume" my VAIO from suspend mode - and this on all opened xterm before suspending
My VAIO is a Pentium III 650Mhz and works absolutely stable and perfekt - so I'm not really worry about this...
The exact "warring" what I get is:
Message from syslogd@localhost at Fri Jan 23 18:55:31 2004 ...
localhost kernel: MCE: The hardware reports a non fatal, correctable incident occurred on CPU 0.
Message from syslogd@localhost at Fri Jan 23 18:55:31 2004 ...
localhost kernel: Bank 1: e200000000000175
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers,
Laz |

I get the same error running an Athlon-XP. It is not overclocked (it is a server), the temperature never exceeds ~41C and at the time of the error (last time) it was at modest 36C - I get the error every 5-20 days of running. It is not often, but it is a production server running our backup-system... It has 2 hdd:s (segate, 160MB) running as RAID 0 and the temperature on those are 26-30C at all times (thank good for s.m.a.r.t making it so easy to check ). Is this happening for all computers sooner or later or is it something to be worried about? _________________ Always make it as simple as possible, but no simpler
