I recently updated my kernel to 2.4.22-r4, and now I can't load the fglrx module. I reemerged it, and then ran fglrxconfig. I told it to use the kernel agpgart, and then ran opengl-update ati. However, the module will not load. If anyone has any ideas about how to fix this problem (it was working before) please let me know.

Thanks,

Tim

Did you remember to update the /usr/src/linux symlink? The module will be generated for the kernel in that directory, so if it's still pointing to the older sources then the fglrx module will be built against them instead of your new kernel. Check the output of "dmesg" just after you try to modprobe the module, it should display some error messages there.

Yes I did update the symlink.

The error message I am getting from dmesg is as follows:

[fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 431 MBytes.
[fglrx:firegl_stub_register] *ERROR* Fire GL kernel module has to be loaded prior to any other DRM kernel module!

I may have had xfree-drm installed, but I have since unmerged it. I don't see any drm modules listed when I run lsmod:

Module Size Used by Tainted: PF
agpgart 29644 0 (unused)
floppy 47836 0 (autoclean)
nls_iso8859-1 2780 5 (autoclean)
ntfs 70348 5 (autoclean)
emu10k1 61224 1
ac97_codec 9320 0 [emu10k1]
sound 51988 0 [emu10k1]
soundcore 3364 7 [emu10k1 sound]
via-rhine 12432 1

usb-ohci 17280 0 (unused)
ehci-hcd 14944 0 (unused)
usbcore 55200 1 [usb-storage hid usb-ohci ehci-hcd]

Any other thoughts?

Do you have DRM built into the kernel? If so, disable it. The setting to look for is Character Devices -> Direct Rendering Manager. It should be just under the AGP options.
