remount your partition using the install disk and check you /etc/fstab make sure that the line at the bottom that mounts proc is correct. _________________ there is no crazy, only violet and non violet.. |

Very often a failure in mounting /proc indicates your kernel was compiled with mismatch cpu options. _________________ Kent

I'm having exactly the same problem. However i do remember that there is no /proc dir i think. This would explain the problem very well .
I'm going to check this out. BRB |

!!!SOLVED!!! For me atleast :p
Description:
Install somehow forgot to make me my /proc dir. Either i didn't RTFM properly or it doesn't mention creating it or they forgot to add it to the tar.
Solution:
Load up your live CD.
do a "mount /dev/hdXX /mnt/gentoo" where XX is your root drive.
then "cd /mnt/gentoo"
then "mkdir proc"
The permissions should be the same as all other dirs.
Reboot.
Could someone verify the .tar or manual to see if they noticed it and if not i have no idea if this would be considered a bug or something. I'm a noob so could someone submit this if it's nessecary.
Thanks all |

Indeed. From the manual:
Code: |
Code listing 41: Creating the /mnt/gentoo/proc mountpoint
# mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc
