You know how they say "he knows just enough to be dangerous." They're talking about me. Anyhow, I run vbulletin on my server. I installed apache mod_php, and vbulletin up and running. Now I need to get sendmail working so I can get email notification. I did emerge sendmail and it installed like 4 or 5 packages. Then I did /etc/init.d/sendmail start and it took like two minutes to give the command prompt back to me. I tried this test email php script, but never received the email. I'm running the server off of my home DSL residential connection, 256k upstream. I'm sure that Bellsouth (my ISP) is probably blocking port 25 to prevent spam, so is it possible to configure sendmail to use my ISP email account to send out mail, and second, which file do I edit and what do I put in it? I have never ever messed with sendmail before, so please rememebr, i'm a total noob here. _________________ The addaboy Radio Show, Mondays @ 7PM EST |

You want to add your ISP's gateway as a smarthost:
define(`SMART_HOST', `smart.foo.com')
Check the file /usr/share/sendmail-cf/README for more info on how to configure sendmail. |
