|
|
Code: |
emerge qemu
emerge netscape-plugger
|
Add the following to /etc/pluggerrc-5.0:
Code: |
##
## Macromedia flash
##
application/x-shockwave-flash:swf:Flash animation
swallow(Macromedia Flash Player 6): /usr/bin/qemu-i386 -L /opt/flash_x86/ /opt/flash_x86/usr/bin/gflashplayer "$file"
|
Download the flash player from this thread and install it into /opt (because I'm too lazy to gather up the individual files, I had flash built on about a zillion x86 machines here).
Go to:
http://www.startrek.com result flash not detected
http://www.homestarrunner.com result "Plugger: No approperiate (sic) application for type application/octet-stream found
http://mario.silent-tower.org/Members/mmbutter/funstuff/viking_kittens.swf result the infamous Viking Kittens DO play, but only when I put my mouse pointer over the flash window and wiggle the pointer around (seriously!).
Ideas? Anybody have this working better? Should I start with a new install of flash player for x86? |

I tried it on www.themeatrix.com and had the same problem as you have on startrek.com. The reason is because the page is using javascript to detect if you have the flash plugin installed. You don't have the plugin installed but you can play the content.
I think a dummy plugin that is just named Flash Plugin would work. I try making one later, if it works I'll post it here. |

1. startrek.com - Yes, JavaScript Flash recognition really is a problem; and there are many others too, like HTML links not working, the gflashplayer menu bar not showing etc. etc. The solution needed would be to integrate not the gflashplayer stand-alone app but the real flash plugin. It should be possible to write a wrapper plugin for mozilla which redirects all calls through libqemu to the x86 plugin.
2. The octet-stream problem has already been solved, you should read the original thread more carefully.
3. The viking kittens work without any wiggling on my part.
