1.4 to 2004?

If I install gentoo 1.4 and keep my system up to date with emerge -u system and world will I be up to date with 2004 when it comes out or is it a whole new distribution? Did a search on the forums and couldn't come up with anything. Thanks.

The whole point of gentoo is that few simple commands like "emerge world" you'll be able to get the most recent tree. So yes, the purpose behind 2004 is to make an easier, more userfriendly, better hw support and so on for the first time installations. Perosnally all my computers "run" 1.2 CDs but there would be no difference if i installed it with 1.4 CD except the fact that durring the installation I'd have some new features for inital installation added in 1.4.
