Ok so over the past week my mother board died on my gentoo machine. So now I have a new one and must reinstall Gentoo. Does Gentoo now install with the 2.6 kernal?

Thanks! 8)

It's called development-sources. If you do a search, there are some threads on making the switch here in the forums.

Or gentoo-dev-sources.

What do you mean emerge by default? you have to pick gentoo-sources or whatnot while installing anyway...just substitute dev-sources instead

You can use bootstrap-2.6.sh as well although it's not necessary...

Should install fine, it has worked for me. There is not default kernel, you just pick one, and since they always tend to say emerge gentoo-sources you think that is the default. For 2.6 kernels mm-sources, gentoo-dev-sources, development-sources.
