Hello,

I'm using 2.6.1-love3 and it's very nice, but now I can't mount cdroms or dvds in either hdc (my dvd-writer) or hdd (ordinary dvd-rom). I keep getting the following message:

mount -t auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

This happens when I set the type to iso9660 too and also doing just a plain mount /mnt/cdrom which has always worked before. My fstab file is unchanged from using vanilla 2.6.1 which works fine and the kernel config is also unchanged (although I did go through it and check to see if anything needed adding for love-sources). I'm not using supermount.

Doing a dmesg reveals a whole load of these messages for both hdc and hdd:

ide-cd: cmd 0x28 timed out
hdd: DMA timeout retry
hdd: timeout waiting for DMA
hdd: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
hdd: status timeout: error=0x40LastFailedSense 0x04
hdd: drive not ready for command
hdd: ATAPI reset complete
hdd: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdd, sector 4293630384
Buffer I/O error on device hdd, logical block 8
hdd: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdd, sector 4293630400

The cds I'm using work fine in Windows. Anyone got any ideas? :)

Andrew

Hi,
I'm having the same problem here after updating from 2.6.1-rc1-love1.
My dmesg output is a bit different though.
Code:

hdd: cdrom_decode_status: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: error=0x40LastFailedSense 0x04
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: error=0x40LastFailedSense 0x04
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: error=0x40LastFailedSense 0x04
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdd: cdrom_decode_status: error=0x40LastFailedSense 0x04
hdd: DMA disabled
hdd: ide_intr: huh? expected NULL handler on exit
hdd: ATAPI reset complete
cdrom: hdd: mrw address space DMA selected
Unable to identify CD-ROM format.
I also don't use supermount. The inserted cd works fine with rc1-love1.

Glad to know it's not just me. Wierdly I managed to successfully write a DVD in this condition. I just can't read it afterwards (under Linux)! :?
