How come gstreamer is so out of date in portage? Are there any ebuilds available for 0.7.3? |

It's probably out of date because no one is actively watching it. You should file a bug at https://bugs.gentoo.org and request a 'version bump to <latest version here>' for it and it will be assigned appropriately.
There are a lot of packages in portage so sometimes devs don't notice when a new version comes out for something.

There are some 0.7.x ebuilds here:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33363
They say however that gstreamer 0.7 won't be put into portage since it's a highly unstable developmental release at the moment. |
