Intel Graphics

Hi!

I have an Acer Travelmate 290LCi (Centrino) with Intel graphic onboard. I can't get X working, because i can't find the drivers for the graphic chip. Where can i find them and install them??

Please help!!

Hi,

if you emerge pciutils, you can run lspci to view the components in your laptop. You can then look for this chipset in google.

edit: it's probably some kind of 8xx chipset which will work with the appropriate X driver on www.xfree86.org -> supported hardware

I just use the i810 driver with my centrino laptop (855GM chipset). Works like a charm. You'll need to compile AGP GART support for the chipset into your kernel, too.

I suggest that you also install a program called 855patch from http://www.chzsoft.com.ar/855patch.html

That's a program that let's you get more than 640x480 resulution!

i bought this laptop to days ago and i got the same problems. x works fine with the 2.4 kernel but with the 2.6 kernel it didnt work. then i emerged the xfree 4.3.99.902 ebuild and now it works without any problems with the included i810 driver.

can you use resulution higher than 640x480?

on my laptop i coulden't, that why i wonder.

i can use 1024x786 without any problems
