I said when I started this endevor I would let everyone know when I finally get useable X graphics on my 17" radeon powerbook. Last night was it! The only issue that I have right now is that the mouse causes a context menu to pop-up occasionally. I think a saw an article on it somewhere and I will work on that tonight. Just wanted to say GREAT JOB! this is a GLORIOUS day!

STEPS:
i followed all the steps in the ppc install instructions except I used reiserfs instead of ext3.
when i rebuilt the kernel I used the following graphics selections:
- no framebuffer except the new radeon driver
- later choose agp and drm, but do not choose any specific driver in drm

emerge reiserfsprogs
emerge xeasyconf
emerge x11
emerge xfce

I let xeasyconf find all the selections and used the output.

Hmm...I also have a Radeon 9600 17" PowerBook, and I can't seem to build X11. I get a bus error during the compile.

I take it you didn't have the same issue? I'm using gcc-3.2.3, and kernel benh-2.6.1-r1.

Thanks!
