Ok guys, I need some advice... According to google, I have a somewhat unique problem: I am typing this on a toshiba m35-s3592 laptop, a new model.
The problem i'm having is this: The keyboard, seemingly randomly, tended to ... miss a release code for the keys, that is, it would start streeming them, because it didn't know to stop sending the code. I say seemingly random, because I nailed down the cause, but i'm drawing a blank on the fix. It will only happen, and is caused by sending a signal over the touchpad.
The random repeating was caused by brushing the pad with a wrist when typing. I found this out when I attempted to play a game of Quake3, and had the guy start running into walls. (The light bulb went on at that point)
Some poking around in /dev shows both the mouse and keyboard are running on the event interface, mouse on event1, KB on event2. Event0 is present, but doesn't seem to have anybody home.
Assorted tweeks in the Xf86config havn't helped any, but it hasn't gotten worse, either.
I am still very new to linux, and am probably not skilled enough to know exactly what to ask, so bear with me here.
Has anyone heard of this problem/had it/ knows a guy who had it?
Any advice you'd have to offer is welcomed greatly

EDIT: forgot some info: Kernel is a 2.6.1-mm3, very stable, touchpad is a fully working synaptics. I seem to have flipped a debug option in the .config someplace, so my dmesg is full of debug stuff, otherwise i'd post it.. I'm probably forgeting something vital, so dont get too mad at me, i'm still learning ![Razz :P](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

this has happened with the past two toshiba laptops i have owned, my late Satellite 4090XDVD and my current Satellite P25-S507.
i never found a fix because i usually don't use the touchpad. another note, the touchpad in my P25 only works sporatically. I don't know if this is some sort of Linux driver problem because i do not have windows installed on my machine, but i also have not tried to diagnose this problem.
sorry, its not a solution but maybe some insight? |

No, No, any help is more then welcome
Odd... I should check that, I have access to a P25, could drop knoppix in the drive and see... Its odd... i've used it before (the P25), and it doesn't have the synaptics touchpad... The ImPS/2 driver should work fine, shouldn't it? (never say should, I know )
Anyone else have any ideas?
