I installed bootsplash on my gentoo with gentoo-2.6.1 kernel. First I searched the forum and with that help the install went well.
I'm able to boot with the splashscreen. It works in verbose and silent mode.
But when I shut down or switch to a console I get flashing coloured blocks all over the screen. The PC shuts down after while but the consoles 1-6 stay unusable, although I can switch back to X in console 7 without problems.
I tried this two grub.conf with same result:
title=Gentoo 1.4 kernel_2.6.1 12januari2004
root(hd1,5)
kernel /bzImage_2.6.1 root=/dev/hdb7 hdd=ide-cd hdc=ide-cd video=mtrr,vesa:1024x768 vga=0x317 splash=verbose
initrd=/initrd-1024x768

and this is some more output
eddy $ cat /proc/splash

eddy # dmesg | grep RAM
BIOS-provided physical RAM map:

I also found on the forum that this could be caused by a plugged in tv-out cable, so I disconnected this and stopped nvtv but still no luck

anyone an idea?

It's ok now, seems disconnecting the tvout cable and stopping nvtv was not enough, removed nvtv from default level, disconnected and rebooted, problem solved

So, was just nvtv causing the problem? Is it possible to have the tvout cable connected at boot?
