WindowMaker, Waimea, LWM or IceWM. You should try them all to see which suits you best. |

Hi,
I'll also recommend Windowmaker, even it is a bit clunky these days. Why no box variants?

Well, Fluxbox doesn't use XML files, and neither does Kahakai, but the pseudo-transparency of which Kahakai makes heavy use might make it too heavy for your machine. Try it and see for yourself. |

If you like simple things, then evilwm could be right for you. Very minimal indeed but it works great on old machines. |

Ion also works nicely with low-end machines. Using a keyboard-driven WM is something of an acquired taste, though. Try it and decide for yourself. |

Technically waimea is a *box because it's based on blackbox... Of course I'd go with a *box because they're sooo light. _________________ ...or el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing... |

Hm, I think fvwm, pekwm, ratpoison, evilwm, windowmaker and afterstep are great and light weight windowmanagers, I prefer fvwm or windowmaker, not sure if the *boxes are lighter, but their all quite light too. |
