Non riesco a far funzionare Digikam con la mia Canon PowerShot S50 USB. Ho cercato nei forum e ho trovato che tanti hanno avuto lo stesso problema, ma non sono riuscito a venirne a capo, nemmeno facendo partire Digikam (o.5.1) o Gphoto2 (2.1.2) come root.
L'Auto-Detect di Digikam dice:
| Code: | Failed to auto-detect camera!
Please retry or try setting manually. |
Dopo aver scelto manualmente il modello torno nella schermata principale, clicco sul nome della macchina ed esce un messaggio di errore:
| Code: | Camera Error: Camera Model or Port not specified correctly.
Please run Setup |

Qualcuno ha avuto esperienze simili e ha voglia di darmi una mano?

beh se la macchina ha un dispositivo di immagazzinamento dati (leggi compact flash o smart media) dovresti vedere un attimo come far funzionare usb-storage (c'è un ottimo how-to nella sezione Tips & Tricks), ma non sapendo come funziona la tua macchina non saprei in che altro modo aiutarti

Hai provato a farla vedere a digikam come "Generic PTP device"? Non ho mai usato direttamente gphoto2, ma con la mia kodak devo fare così.

Ho provato a farla vedere a digikam come "Generic PTP device": stessi messaggi di errore, anche se a quanto ho capito la PowerShot S50 dovrebbe funzionare anche così.
Ho provato anche con gphoto2, come da http://rooster.stanford.edu/~ben/linux/canon.php, sia come utente normale sia come root. Il risultato è sempre questo:
