PS/2 mouse initial delay with 2.6

I've searched the fora but can only find people who's mouse didn't work at all.

This is my problem (well more of an annoyance than a problem). On boxes with the 2.6 kernel there is a delay before the mouse starts responding, a couple of seconds of wiggling it about before it does anything. Afterwards it works fine, but not for the first few seconds after loading X. I've noticed this on non-gentoo boxes as well. Same results using gnome, fluxbox, tvwm, etc. Have only tested this with PS/2 mice and AFAIK I've got the kernel and X configs correct.

Anybody esle noticed this and is there a fix?

the touchpad on my laptop does the same thing. i've not found a fix though
