Hi all can anyone give me a solution to this problem. I have my gentoo on a 80 gig with windows on a partition. i want to clone my gentoo partition which is about 20 gig on to a 20 gig hd.
i know the command would be:
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb for example. but gentoo is on :
/dev/hda5 -- boot -- 102
/dev/hda6 -- swap -- 1.69G
/dev/hda7 -- root -- 17.40
how would i clone these partitions only on to a 20 gig hd in one go.

Try:
http://www.partimage.org/ (it is also in the portage tree)
http://www.sysresccd.org (bootdisk - Gentoo based - which includes partimage)
