Hello Sigma,
from your messages I suppose that /dev/hda1 is your boot partition. Therefore you have to remove all "/boot", since "/boot" is just your mount point from /dev/hda3, and anything is located directly at /dev/hda1.
Regards,

you need to replace kernel-KV with the actual name of your kernel file. If you compiled it under Gentoo then it will be something like "kernel-2.4.20-gentoo-r6" or something. The KV after the kernel stands for kernel version. I wish I could help you with the exact name, but I am not running the dev sources.
If you use genkernel to compile it, when it finishes it will tell you the name of your kernel and your initrd string. |

no it find the kernel after the bootloader, but it don't find any partitions
Code: | UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
Kernel panic: VS: Unable to mount root fs on hda3 |

If you used genkernel try something like this:
Code: |
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/kernel-KV root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc real_root=/dev/hda3
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initrd-KV |

Did you remember to include support for all the filesystem types you are using directly in the kernel as well as support for your IDE controller?
Is /dev/hda3 really the root location? Can you boot from the live cd and mount /dev/hda3 /mnt/gentoo then post the output of ls /mnt/gentoo. Also, mount your boot partition: mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/gentoo/boot then post the output of: ls /mnt/gentoo/boot. This will help a bit with troubleshooting.
Also, might as well post 'fdisk -l /dev/hda' just to be safe! _________________ Kent
