|

I've read on these forums that the new genkernel can work well with the 2.6 kernel. My question is how exactly do I get genkernel to configure 2.6? Is there anything special I must do?
Right now I am still on 2.4.22. |

There is nothing really special that you need to do. All you need to do is make sure that your /usr/src/linux link is pointing to the right kernel (2.6 in your case). Then run genkernel and everything should work out fine. |

I have a ready system installed.
Can I just change the link, emerge the kernel and run genkernel on the System as it is? |

Ive used genkernel to build both 2.6.0 and 2.6.1. Make sure you have emerged the latest ones, but you shouldnt have any problems.
As you say, change the symbolic link for /usr/src/linux, moce into the directory and run genkernel (--config if you dont want the defaukt opions)
It also seems to forget teh current confguration, so I always load the configuration form my previous kernel build, and verify that theres nothing new i need to add. |

Hmmm...I've included 2.6 in my lilo config, but for some reason it doesn't show up. What must I do to actually make it show up? |

Can you post us a copy of your /etc/lilo.conf.
Did you make sure that you are using the correct kernel and initrd versions when configuring lilo? |
