I have a symlink to a playlist, which has relative paths.
For instance:
~/music/playlist.m3u has
file1.mp3
file2.mp3
etc.
and I have:
~/playlistlink.m3u as a link to that (i.e. by doing ln -s ~/music/playlist.m3u ~/playlistlink.m3u)
If I use xmms to load ~/playlistlink.m3u, it doesn't load the files, because the paths are relative.
Is there any way to get around this? _________________ -- Andy |

Well... If the playlist has relative paths, you're in trouble. XMMS won't follow symlinks.
The only real advantage of having relative paths in a playlist is if you want to move the library the files are in.
So instead of having a relative playlist (saved where I like), I have mine set to use static paths pointing to /files/Music/.../...
The /files directory is in fact a symlink pointing to /mnt/files_2.2/Music, and the directory has moved from several partitions, while I kept my playlists where they were.
May I ask why you want to create symlinks of playlists? Do you have scripts spawning playlists for your favorite CDs or something?

Yes, I use relative paths so that they will work even if I move them/burn them to CD/etc.
I suppose if xmms can't be made to follow symlinks then there is no way to do this. _________________ -- Andy |
