I don't know why...but I have lost my keyboard and mouse 3 times now.
The keyboard is USB and the mouse is PS2.
It works fine for a while then out of the blue I lose the keyboard and mouse. Could be 20 minutes...could be an hour or two after logging on.
Whatever it is, it's severe because I can't even use control + shift + F1,2,3 or 4 to switch to another console.
The PC is an Athlon-Thunderbirf (HP Pavilion 7885)
Any ideas anyone? |

I found that I had this problem when I enabled the APIC with my VIA chipset. If enabled my dmesg gets filled with APIC errors and eventually my USB mouse and keyboard stop responding. However, if I disable it everything's fine. You could try either disabling the option in your kernel config or in your BIOS to see whether it fixes the problem. |

Thanks, I'll give it a shot and let you know how I got on. |
