Does it really need to install all this crap just for gDesklets? its rather...rediculous if you ask me....

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Well... it is exclusively for the Gnome desktop, so why would you be surprised that it'll emerge almost all of gnome 2.4 ?
My problems are waaay bigger
I successfully emerge all that stuff, but now whenever I want to open a desklet .display, it just opens the friggin XML file in nautilus!
aaargh bollocks! |

have you tried using the 'open with' menu option in nautilus. by default it doesnt associate the displays with gdesklets. _________________ --Master Beef--

Or go to a shell and type:
Code: | gdesklets /path/to/file.display |

i am bumping this to ask the same question.
i dont see nautilus as a requirement on their website.
it appears gnome-python is the culpret.. that thing sets a ton of stuff for emerge.

Yes, I have... 2 comments:
1. Its STUPID - why doesn't it register its OWN extension ?
2. It refuses to run an arbitrary file for the extension right then and there...
I have to go through all the trouble to first associate something with it (requiring another screen), and then point it to all the right places..
STOOPID - ferchrissakes, even WindBlows gets THAT one right! |
