try and see if you can wget the file from the server listed directly.
If that doesn't work, try connecting yourself directly to the internet and see if it works then... if so it's your windows microcrap software messing up the routing. _________________ Linux saved my life and made me $1 million dollars over night... for only 19.95 it can all be yours |

Me too, I get it straight from Linux though,
I think it is the server thats it is using, ilibido or something....
I only get it on emerge world, or emerge binutils...
Any way to ignore a server? _________________ Thanks

remove it from your GENTOO_MIRRORS var in /etc/make.conf _________________ Linux saved my life and made me $1 million dollars over night... for only 19.95 it can all be yours |

It still flakes whatever server I use, it even flakes when I download manually. Have to wait and see if it clears up, maybe a problem with the files, and new packages need to filter through or something.... _________________ Thanks

There is a method in make.conf to select a different download program.
try adjusting those settings.
I can download fine from the server listed in the initial post, so it might be a bad wget installation.. dunno
Good luck _________________ Linux saved my life and made me $1 million dollars over night... for only 19.95 it can all be yours |

PinkPanther, where in the world are you? May be a geographical problem.
I have download problems when I try and download the said file, even in Windows, using broswer, FTP and file programs.. _________________ Thanks

That's baffling. In a fix you could always do a google search for the file your looking for and just put it in your distfiles directory. That will allow you to install it, of course assuming the md5's correlate.
For those who don't know distfiles resides in /usr/portage/distfiles
Unless you've changed it in /etc/make.conf. On my system I put it in my /var/temp with all the rest of my build environment. _________________ Linux saved my life and made me $1 million dollars over night... for only 19.95 it can all be yours |

Try this:
mirrorselect -a -50
To get maximum amount of servers in your make.conf
emerge sync
To Update
and then do your emerge.
works here. (Ish) _________________ Thanks

I am still getting freezes using emerge, I have just done a complete re-install of Gentoo and it still does it.
I love Gentoo, but this is core functionality and a reason why I chose Gentoo, if I cant update, I cant use.....
Dont Make me go back to RedHat!!! Put the RH CD Down......PUT IT DOWN............NOoooooooooooooooooo..
Oh dear.
Does any have any ideas at all before I go completly insane?????? _________________ Thanks

ibiblio.org (USA) cannot be resolved, thats the route cause of the problem I am having with emerge.
