Ciauz gechi,
mamma gentoo ha annunciato che presto sara' disponibile
Python 2.3.3 come stabile nelle architetture x86. 
Dopo l'aggiornamento occorrera' dare il comando:
/usr/sbin/python-updater
per 'ricompilare' tutti i moduli installati con versioni precedenti la 2.3.3.

E' da quando è uscita la versione 2.3 che sono tentato di adottarla anche su gentoo, ma conoscendone le controindicazioni per il portage mi sono sempre trattenuto. Era ora, grazie mamma Gentoo 
Ora mi manca solo il porting di portage su macosx e poi... poi bho, mi godrò il tutto ancor più d'adesso

E perchè? Se n'è parlato diverse volte: stanno facendo il porting di portage su macosx. Un'alternativa a fink, solo che preferisco mille volte il caro vecchio emerge a fink
Per saperne di più guarda qui o qui. Non sembra nemmeno troppo lontano nel tempo

qualcuno ha emergato questo python e ha dato python-updater ?

Fidarsi è bene, non fidarsi è meglio
Ho visto che non sovrascriverebbe il vecchio python!
Poi si può tranquillamente unmergare quello vecchio o la maggior parte delle applicazioni basate su python non funzionano su quellop nuovo? |

Io ho fatto il passaggio: comodo, rapido, indolore. Mi pare funzionare tutto egregiamente, soprattutto posso sfruttare per bene python 2.3 anche su gentoo

Se vuoi essere sicuro lascia anche quello vecchio per qualche tempo, male non fa. In ogni caso la maggior parte delle applicazioni dovrebbe andare senza problemi, anzi, pure meglio.
