First of all, know that this is not ready yet, so officially, you are on your own.
Luckily, there is a quite friendly e17 community.
I am lazy, so I am going to "point you in the right direction".
Before "building"
1. go to http://e1x.mine.nu
Here you can find help and post your problems.
2.read the stuff about the difference between HEAD and SPLIT, and use the -D parameter (explained over at e1x.mine.nu) to download a version prior to 24th of July.
3. go to http://lists.gentoo.org/pipermail/gentoo-user/2002-June/025000.html
for gentoo specific problem solving.
4. downgrade gettext to 0.10.40 (you can upgrade it again later)
5. you should prolly use gcc 2.x or 3.2 (mine worked with 3.2, but not 3.1.1)
6. make sure you understand everything
When all that is done, you can try to compile. I would recommend using a --prefix=/usr/local/e17 on ./autogen.sh in all the packages except imlib2 and imlib2_loaders. It is also a good idea to put a --no-mmx on the imlib autogen.sh, as it can cause problems without it.
Sound confusing?
It might be because I did this in the middle of the night and that it actually IS hard.
If anybody wants to make a better how-to,then be my guest, but please post it in this thread, as it will make it easier for people to find.
Going ot those web pages does clear up a whole lot and gives you some fixes.
..... I suck at making how-to`s
But I did collect those links in one thread. |
