I'm planning to start studying for CCNA, and was wondering if there were any open source tools perhaps in Portage that would help to learn and maybe emulate a cisco router, anyone know of any? A search did return any results. Thanks! |

zebra is in the portage tree..
zebra is not a IOS emulator, but does do all popular routing protocols.
And just about the same commands as IOS.
See commands here
it is masked though.. (because of vulnerabilities)
If you really want to play around with real IOS just can find real cheap stuff on ebay.[/url] |

emerge whatmask
Makes figuring out the wildcard bits in Cisco ACL's easy. Else the next best thing is to start cruising ebay for 2610 or 2611 routers. I've got a few in storage I wouldn't mind selling if you're interested. You can probably score a 2610 for under $400.
