anyone know of a decent (read: easy, step by step) guide to setting up an LDAP & Samba PDC.
LDAP is easy enough, I've used both the tutorial here on the forum and the one in the docs.
I've tried the one at https://www6.software.ibm.com/dw/education/esdd/smb_ldap/ and that's good, but I didn't end up with a working solution even though I followed it step by step. I've been back through and checked everything and it's all the same on my system as on the tutorial.
The one at http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb/smb-ldap-3-howto.html is just confusing with a lot of information, a good chunk of which is nice to know but not needed.
I've googled a bit bot not found any others.
I don't really care whether I get a solution that runs Samba 2 or 3, and I don't care if the samba user/passwds are stored in the LDAP directory or not, just as long as they are synced with the LDAP users.
Maybe I'm just being incredibly thick or trying something that is just too far beyond my capabilities. I've had samba running as a PDC for a while on a different box, and I 've just had local accounts setup under linux on all the client machines, but I want to have a single centralised login for both linux and windoze clients. _________________ --
