and

Code:
SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00

kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2

I'm having exactly the same problem on my Sun Ultra 5. The card and HDD both work, as I have used them until recently in a PC, and have re-tested them after the first instance of this failed module error. I have also had no problem isntalling Gentoo in the past on this very drive and SCSI card!

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Unfortunately support for this SCSI card isn't built in to the LiveCD. You are in luck, though because there is source code for a driver available. It is based on a 2.4.20 kernel, but I'm sure it will work with a 2.4.22 kernel. So what does this mean for you? You need a kernel module you can install. Do you have a partition/disk somewhere you can do the beginning of a stage2 install (just enough to emerge the kernel source, add the driver from the zip file, compile it, modprobe the new module, then move on from there.

That would be the easy way. Or compile it on another computer and copy the module to a floppy or something.
