Gnome emerged..but missing packages?

I've emerged gnome and it works fine. Except when I attempt to change the data/time I get a messsage saying it "fiailed to find a program to configure date and time. Perhaps none is installed?"

Anyone one know what package I need to invoke here to get that fixed?
I thought emerge gnome installed all of gnome, but apparently I was mistaken.

you need gnome-system-tools. It is not included in the official portage tree but their is a build available at http://breakmygentoo.net

Wow, thats strange. Why would it not be included with the distro itself? The ability to set the clock? I checked breakmygentoo and it's there, but with a warning:

"I suggest no one use these applications at this time, it toasted /etc/passwd and /etc/group for me, and messed around with grub. Thank god I have backups, but I didn't expect it to be that.

Good luck to anyone who decides to use it anyways."

gnome-system-tools are made up of various applications. Each distro has a different way of working with certain things(init scripts for example) so gnome-system-tools has to be able to work with the different distros. Certain portions of the tools work fine with gentoo(such as the time and date app) but others will not work as well or at all. If all you need it for is changing the date and time then you will be fine.

This is somewhat of a let down that it isn't installed when you install gnome. "well sure, you can install a desktop environment.. but well.. you can't change the time using the tools that come with it". That does not sound like the right solution at all, I would say that it is a bug of critical importance for desktop users.

Perhaps, but who actually needs to set the date and time? That's a job for the system administrator, not for users (not to mention that on a Linux system, the right way to do things is to set up ntpd and just let it work). Gnome is primarily there to make things easier for users, not for administrators.
