|
|
hi,
i have an intel i820 soundchip. how can i get it to play mutiple sounds at the same time? i now have both alsa and arts and the kernel module for my i820. but now i need to run everything via arts to get it to play multiple sounds. and xmms does'nt have arts support so i need to run it through artsdsp. needless to say, but this is SLOW! can i do without alsa/arts? and why doesnt it work with just the kernel module? that would probably be the best solution?
thanks!

Try to use dmix. There is some info at http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=DmixPlugin .
However, expect it to be neither self-evident, easy nor reasonable to configure dmix. Also prepare that the docs might be out of date and/or wrong, aimed at specific card and so on. There has been a heaty discussion about that on alsa-user a few weeks ago. _________________ clue = if 0 == 0 then clue else error "The poster didn't have any clue when he posted this." |
