keyboard focus and wine

Im having a problem with using the keyboard in fullscreen wine applications.

When i load up something that by default comes up fullscreen (such as a game) i cant use the keyboard. Then when i exit the game, the text has appeared in the last terminal i was using. My mouse works fine.

Any help here would be appreciated

(by the way i am running wine version 20031118)

the last time i used wine was when i was still using mandrake ( thank god i switched ) the only way i got keyboard focus was to run the app in wine through windowed mode and not fullscreen.
