can't change kde splash screen

I've emerged ksplash-ml and ksplash-ml-themes and i have all the themes in my kcontrol. However when I try to use a different one it does nothing. I always get the default kde splash screen. Any ideas? This used to work before I reinstalled gentoo.

BTW: where exactly do you see the ksplash themes in kcontrol, I don't see them.

I had ksplash-ml and ksplas-ml-themes working great but when I upgraded to kde-3.0.3 it stopped working. Can't accept that the app will not work with a slightly newer version of the same thing....

i found the problem, it was using the old ksplash. I just moved /usr/kde/3/bin/ksplash to ksplash.bk and linked /usr/kde/3/bin/ksplash to /usr/bin/ksplash
