X apps without X

Hi,

Can I instruct portage to compile X-applications without having to emerge the complete xfree package?

I only want to be able te export over ssh-connections, i don't want to be able to run X on the machine

you should be able to .. you'll have to specify these things in your make.conf file

USE="-X -gnome -kde"

and anything else that is X

make sure you do a --pretend b4 you emerge anything so that you can double check if it's going to download and install X

use --pretend |more if the list is too long

u can also try --nodeps to force it to install without resolving dependencies
