Sainthood in the Church of Emacs requires living a life of purity--but in the Church of Emacs, this does not require celibacy (a sigh of relief is heard). Being holy in our church means installing a wholly free operating system--GNU/Linux is a good choice--and not putting any non-free software on your computer. Join the Church of Emacs, and you too can be a saint

I think free software is a great contribution to the community, but I don't share the view of not using software not available free (speach), I use free software daily and almost exclusively, but when it comes to solving a prolem (for example, watching a flash movie), I just go with what works.

OTOH, usually free software is better than non free one when available.

It the old free vs. non-free agrument again. I tend to go with what Bruce Perens opinion is, that being free software is good and should be used when possible, but non-free software does, still, have to be used and that there is good non-free software out there, quite a bit really.

I primarily use free software, however I do not have a problem paying for (and frequently using) an application I genuinely need.

Install Debian.

Running a completely free Operating System is certainly possible. Practical? No.

I'm all about free stuff and pay for nothing other than by helping out if I can.
However, I do not use emacs, and will probably continue not doing it until the manage to make a usable interface.
The same goes to Vi, btw...

Please search before you post. We've had plenty of those threads discussing GNU/Linux vs. Linux, Stallman vs. Raymond, Emacs vs. Vi, grub vs lilo. Enough already.
