heres my problem, I want the 2.6 kernel optimized for speed and i also need firewire and HFS+ support, my system is x86 with an athlon-xp. i have an iPod and hell will freeze over before i format it with FAT

i tried the gentoo-dev-sources but it didn't have HFS+ support

so am i best off just to use the gentoo-dev-sources and adding hfs+ support after i compile the kernel or should i use some other sources?

Thanks

Are you sure it doesn't have HFS+ support? When I go into my kernel I have this option:

Code:
File systems --->
Miscellaneous filesystems --->
< > Apple Macintosh file system support (EXPERIMENTAL)

This thread is about an hfs+ patch for 2.4 or 2.6 kernels:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=66354&highlight=hfs

Note that the link to the sources is not the latest verson. If you follow the link to the web page, and download from there, the sources were updated in Decemeber 03 so are a lot more up to date.

I don't have an iPod, and haven't used the patch, so good luck :)
