I have an issue where the initrd does not seem to find the boot device. It appears that the mount command, which I assume is in linuxrc somewhere, has incorrect parameters. It fails at Step4 saying that it cannot mount the root device because of invalid arguments.
My root drive is /dev/hda3 with reiserfs. |

try commenting out the initrd line in grub or lilo, and just let gentoo mount your partitions normally. I've had problems with letting initrd do the mounting, so I just commented it out and it all works nice |
