Last night on #gentoo, Vlad and I hashed out how to modify the glibc ebuild to only install the en_US locale (with the stunning help of the #gentoo irregulars). How to do that, Vlad has detailed at:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=101
I feel pretty strongly that a user should have the option of only installing the locales which he wants. It's faster, and it goes along with the philosophy of a -customized- install. My box is in the US, it's going to stay in the US, and if I ever do go to Africa, I'll recompile glibc, ok? |

Please post suggestions such as this one on bugs.gentoo.org! We're slowly adding developers, but it's likely we'll never have enough to catch all of the good ideas posted to the -dev, -user, -newbies, and -security mailing lists as well as the fourms. If you want a feature or you have a suggested change, posting it on bugs.gentoo.org is the best way to make sure that developers see it.

Oh, is this the forum for suggestions that won't be adopted? |
