I really don't know what's going on with my computer. Ever since I installed gentoo, neither of my NICs are functioning properly. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I have my kernel compiled correctly, my bios configured correctly, and the problem spans onto Windows XP. For some reason, whenever I restart or power down my computer, I lose my connection to the internet. The only way that seems to get it working for a single boot is to power cycle my switch and modem. I've never had a problem quite like this before, and even though I feel it is more directly related to my hardware (3com 920, nForce2 LAN)
I'll post lspci and ifconfig info later... anything else? |

I have the same board (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) and I use the top ethernet port (the 3com one) and use the 3c59x driver compiled into the kernel. You have to make sure you have dhcp starting at bootup with this driver/module.
