|
|
Hi, I'm trying to install iptables...
I've got kernel 2.6.1 and enabled everything in "Ip: Netfilter Configuration" as modules.
So I did:
Code: | make && make modules modules_install bzImage |
Now, when I try to load the ip_tables module I get this:
Code: |
Hemelwijs linux # modprobe ip_tables
FATAL: Error inserting ip_tables (/lib/modules/2.6.1/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
|
Can somebody tell me what I do wrong or maybe something I forgot?

There's no userland-iptables available that coresponds to the 2.6er kernel due to changes.
Netfilter.org news:
2003-Dec-24
New patch-o-matic release
The netfilter core team has released patch-o-matic-20031219. It contains the most up-to-date bugfixes and new features available for kernels >= 2.4.19, including 2.4.24. Please note that this release still does not yet support the just-released 2.6.0 kernel series. Expect a so-called 'patch-o-matic-ng' release for 2.6.x support in the next couple of weeks. |

Hmz, strange, because it worked on a 2.6.0 kernel, and now on another linux box I installed kernel 2.6.1 and I thought it would work as well...
But it looks like it doesn't... I'll downgrade to 2.6.0 then
Thx |

Hehe, ok, iptables do work on 2.6.0, and I think they also work on 2.6.1 the problem was this:
I use grub on my own pc, but this one uses lilo... I "only" forgot to run lilo when I recompiled the kernel :s |
