Is usb hotplugging supposed to autodetect any usb device that you plug into the usb port ?? and if so would i need to compile drivers for the device so that hotplug utility can load appropriate driver ?
I am asking this because i cannot seem to figure out why my Keyboard or Digital Camera is not being autodetected and linked to /dev. I am guessing that the hotplugging utility should create a file in my /dev/usb directory or somewhere as such.
Any clarification how this usb stuff is supposed to work?? |

i am having some problems with hotplug on a 2.6.1 kernel using my digital camera, a sony 5.0 megapixel, with gphoto2 and my usb mouse on my laptop.
I heard that there were a few bugs that will be addressed in possibly 2.6.2 release of the 2.6 kernel series. |

Yikes! I had this same problem... not knowing, that is.
I found the following information very valuable https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=79&highlight=usb+howto
Hotplugging does create a file for you on the fly. It's actually pretty cool.
