A while ago, my crontab started acting funny and I still don't know why. The jobs just aren't being executed. I was using vcron, which I found out was changed to vixie-cron in portage, but removing the old package and emerging it as vixie-cron didn't help.

Another problem I'd been having is that whenever I'd start X and exec fvwm after a while the icon manager would stop responding to mouse clicks and my imwheel shortcuts stopped working. Restarting FVWM wouldn't help, I'd have to restart X every time.

Then I commented out all the cron jobs on my machine and I haven't had the FVWM/X problem since. Does it make sense to anyone why these things would be linked? I'm pretty positive that changing the crontabs and re-installing vixie-cron are the only things I did to my system before problem 2 stopped being a problem.

The stupid icon manager problem started again, so I guess I spoke too soon when I said it was related to the cron problem. If anyone has any idea about either of those problems independant of one another, help would still be appreciated :)
