Have you tried setting your protocol to "IMPS/2" or "ExplorerPS/2"? Like this:
Code: |
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "5"
EndSection

I'm having a similar problem with an offbrand PS/2. It worked the first time I had it configured, but now it doesn't work correctly. I'm going to try and fool around with the configuration right now, I'll post back with any advice. |

It works for me as well.
When I swap to kernel 2.4 to 2.6, everything was OK but no mouse wheel scrolling.
Entering KDE, the mouse hangs for 2 seconds then it can move again. It seems the auto protocol does no longer find the right protocol, hangs and finally switch to a very basic protocol.
