Hello,

I have been reading the openMosix doc, and it says that I need a new kernel. I am currently using the gs-kernel for imporved stability of the system. Can I apply a patch to my current kernel to gain openMosix support or do I have to build a complete new kernel?

Sorry to be clear, I mean can I patch my current kernel source to add open Mosix support. (I realise I need to compile the kernel again. :)

Thanks
Neil

This all depends on which version of the kernel you are using, as open-mosix have only got kernel patches for 2.4.* kernel sources (18-22 AFAICR). I'm not 100% sure about how it would work. If directly patching the gs-sources doesn't work you may need to get the vanilla sources and patch them twice, once with the openmosix patches, then again with the gs- patches. I've never tried this so I may be talking absolute rubbish, but it's worth a try.

Thanks tomk,

the gs-source is 2.4.23 so I will leave the patches well alone. I think I will try and get UML running then fiddle with the kernels.
