Hi everyone. I just ran chkdupexe on my system, and I've been a little surprised to realise that many system binaries are dupped. One even more bizzarer thing is that they often have a different size than the other dupe... Well, see for yourself...
Code: | root@venus jchoisy # chkdupexe

I'm really no kind of expert about this, but are they all normal dupes? I mean, should I really have 2 'group' binaries? With different size in /bin than in /usr/bin ? I'm not extremely worried since I'm really careful about what I install on my box, but still... I'm surprised....
EDIT: accorded o the dates, the bins dated aug 6 come from the stage tarball I used... Too bad they actually die there... Shouldnt they disappear during upgrades??
EDIT2: oh well... gues I was being paranoid. It looks like the dupes either are explained by the old files comming from the stage tarball, or the others are from the DGS ebuild. Since both DGS and Xfree provide those files, the size difference must come from the fact that the Xfree ebuild filters the -Os cflag... Nice.... I can sleeep now :) Sorry for an obviously useless post. |
