I fixed the link. I had an r where it shouldn't have been. I'm guessing the gnomes typed it in quickly before I hit submit. Either way, it's fixed now. _________________ Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it. |

Why would I need to do that? There's still alot of patches sitting and waiting to be used. I only need to find a way to patch them in correctly. bug: my silicon image 680 ide card isn't working with love4, it worked fine in love3 and prior, it stops for a few seconds and gives this error message: hde: lost interrupt, there is a link to my .config file in my signature.
*update* i may have found the culprit patch, module-removal-use-kthread.patch, will update again with confirmation one way or another.
*update 2* nope, still looking at the new patches Andrew put in -mm because he did a lot of new things and one of them is the culprit.
*update 3* the pnp updates look to be the new culprit, not going to bother to identify a specific patch, i'm rolling them all back to their mm1 counterparts, hopefully this will work, will update if it does or does not.
*update 4* nope, this is proving difficult, oh well, i'll reboot and see if i can manage to get the oops messages _________________ This post has been over explained for newb-informing purposes.

Sorry to nag, but do you know if this still applies?
Quote: | Nick's scheduler policy v19a
Patches against 2.6.0-test9-bk19 and 2.6.0-test9-mm3
Note, when using this patch, you should renice X to -10 or greater if you intend for it to get high CPU allocation (which is good for interactivity). |

There's no need to renice X. Nick's scheduler takes care of all of the renicing for us, depending on interactivity. _________________ Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it. |

Thanks for keeping us posted. It could be one of the new things that I included, but I can't figure out what would play with the PCI devices that I haven't included before. _________________ Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it. |

finally found the real culprit, the new acpi patch in mm2 is what was causing the problem, it kept giving errors about i8xxx(don't remember the numbers i know it has something to do with the ps/2 mouse port) and disabling interrupt 12 and also the siimage lost interrupt problem. Now that all that is sorted out (by disabling acpi) its running good, and as an added bonus its doing so faster than -love3. _________________ This post has been over explained for newb-informing purposes.

Should I change to love4 from love1? I mean is there any noticable speed improvement improvement or something?

are you sure that you have eliminated all other possible problems other than the kernel, it may be a problem with the mouse itself, does it work if you boot into a previous version, could you post your .config file. _________________ This post has been over explained for newb-informing purposes.

Ahh, I just noticed that steel300's signature was updated to love4 instead of love3. Doesn't that mean a new patch set was released??
