All of a sudden I can't access sites via their hostname, but only with graphical apps...

ping, lynx and emerge can still use hostnames. But if i start Mozilla FB i get a message saying that www.google.com could not be found. The same with PSI (though, it complains about tipic.org)

What could be wrong?

Edit: Evolution works
So does Kbear, VNC viewer and DCGUI-QT

Seems like Mozilla FB and PSI are the only ones that can't use dns.... They could a couple of hours ago :?

Have you configured to use a proxy server which isn't running / available any more?

Solved...

Instead of my htpc being registered one time in /etc/hosts, it was registered about 3000 times on the same row :P

I have to learn not to type anything before I press 'i' in vim
